PreviousNext Top 10 places to visit in Jaipur Wanna get a lavish dose of architectural opulence and imperial grandeur? Want to experience a delightful and charming blend of lively culture, delicious cuisine, and warm hospitality? Then Jaipur as a tourist place is the ultimate holiday destination for you!! I got a chance to visit the Jaipur city recently, and I was awed by its overall vibrancy. I just had a weekend with my friends, but still, we were able to cover many places to visit in Jaipur and around. We checked in a hotel at late night near Ajmeri Gate Jaipur which is one of the seven gates that were built in 1727 when Maharaja Jai Singh II founded the town. I was awed by its beautiful decoration with mythological figures and floral motifs and ensured to click a selfie. Our early morning spot was to pay a visit to Amber Fort, which has a great historical significance and is one of the popular places to visit in Jaipur. On its way, I had an awesome view of Jal Mahal which looked like a palace to me in the dim light of morning. The light sand coloured stone walls were in stark contrast to the deep blue waters of the lake. On reaching to Amber fort, I opted for an elephant ride from the parking area to the fort’s entrance which reminded me of my childhood. As soon as I entered the fort I again felt nostalgic of the bed stories I heard from my grandmother about big forts. I enjoyed the scenic view of the Jaipur city amid the cold breeze and away from the hustle and bustle of the city life. By the time, we came down it was around 8.30 am so we straight away went to Bapu Bazar one of the best shopping destinations which should not be missed while you are on a Jaipur city tour. But as soon as we reached there, the smell of food stalls all around made us realize that we were damn hungry. So we headed towards Sanju’s Omelette to enjoy the buttery egg dishes and had a filling breakfast. As soon as the breakfast was done a shopaholic like me dashed into the shops to buy Jaipuri bedsheets, Kurtis, and jewellery. As much as Jaipur is known for tourism it is also famous for the items you get in cheap rate. But you should be a good bargainer like me and you can easily get the items in half of the quoted rate. Seeing so cheap items all around made all of us shop a lot and it took us around 4 to 5 hours. But in the end, I was satisfied with the amount of cheap but quality stuff I had bought. As it was evening time and we had started feeling hungry too. I had heard a lot about Rajasthani food, so a friend with us suggested visiting Chokhi Dhani to enjoy the traditional culture and authentic dishes. It is one of the best places to visit in Jaipur at night as the place has a charming rustic environment. It gives you a feel of village fair with its, puppet shows, folk dances and the traditional food at Chokhi Dhani which can easily make you overeat. The next day, our destination was the famous City Palace of Jaipur that made us reminisce the recent past with its remarkable blend of Rajput and Mughal architecture. While roaming in and around the narrow lanes of the palace, I felt a part of the bygone era. But as they say, it is better not to dwell too much in the past hence the constant rumbling in the stomach made us head towards a restaurant inside Jaipur’s City Palace to have a delicious meal. Our next stop from here was towards another famous place to visit in Jaipur city which was Johari Bazaar. It is well known for selling silver earrings, bandhani dupattas, leather juttis, and so on. We also munched on various local food items such spicy chaat at Jai Shree ram chaat bhandar, Rajasthani sweets like Ghewar at Laxmi Mishthan Bhandar and even had buttery parathas at the Parantha Shop. At night we headed towards the Hawa Mahal and clicked excellent pictures of the gorgeous building from the outside. We also munched on the famous Pandit Kulfi to curb our sweet cravings. As we had an early morning train hence from there, we headed on to one of the pubs and had a relaxing time. All in all, I had a fantastic weekend trip to Jaipur. But some cities have something that calls you back, and Jaipur is one of them. Hence, I am soon planning a more extended trip this time to visit Jaipur for tourism. Next LEAVE A COMMENT
